Lovin Spoonfuls Tucson Az. - My Review of This INCREDIBLE Vegan Restaurant

After driving 11 hours through New Mexico and Arizona, I was hungry and cranky I just wanted some good vegan food. When we pulled up to Lovin Spoonfuls I was so excited cause Amber had been reading me the menu for the last 30 miles making me more and more hungry. As soon as you walk up to the counter you are greeted by the owner Peggy who is very friendly and SO nice. She is a devoted cat lover just like us and has many rescue cats at her home just like us.  To the right of the counter are many photos of her with famous doctors who all live or support a plant based lifestyle. We ordered some appetizers and burgers the service was out this world good, we sat outside and with in mins the appetizers were there. The battered mushrooms had to be the best deep fried mushroom that I have ever tasted in my life. The battered beer brats and the shoestring fries were great also. Sitting outside eating this food I knew that this is where I want to call home as soon as the boys are done with high school. When the burgers came I was in heaven. Anybody can make a vegan burger and serve it up what what differs one to the next is how they serve it up you can tell when there is love put into the food and you definitely feel the love here.
When Sunday morning came around we were outside Lovin Spoonfuls 15 min before the opened and we still weren't the first ones there. The breakfast at this place is so good that it will blow your mind. Amber went with the  Chocolate Chip Pancakes, and I went with a Spinach-Mushroom Scramble and Southwest Burrito wow it was really good.
After hiking for a couple of hours we decided to head back here for some late lunch-early supper but we got there at 315 and they close at 3 but she still offered us so cold desserts even though the kitchen was closed.  Wow these treats really hit the spot so good and all vegan is awesome.
On Monday morning we were right back here again for our final meal here.  I went with the Denver Scramble and Amber got the same thing Chocolate chip pancakes which everything was awesome. If you love good food and enjoy good service you will love this place, and knowing that the owner is such a kind hearted person has dedicated her life to helping animals.  Her personality really reflects on this restaurant and its shows through the people she employs and through the food that is served. This place is a MUST PLACE TO EAT AT.

Decision...........Decision What to decide

good and fair prices.

So many choices.

The coffee here rocks.

These were really great fries.

Those were the bestest mushrooms in the world.

My Route 66 Burger, fresh made patties is the only way to go.

Scramble Scottsdale Az-Review

This place serves both the vegan and nonvegan dishes which sometime worries me that they are not keeping them separated, but I felt good about this place. This place is very clean and the service was fast and the food was really good. My only thing to say is they advertised a hash but its a mash not a biggie but just though it needed to be said. If we are ever in the area again I would definitely eat here not just cause the food but for the fact that we can all eat as a family and I feel that is very important also.

Great coffee also.

Very Clean

The boy's pancakes they didn't want sausage so they subbed it for another hot cake is was $7.69.

Vegan Mushroom & Spinach Scramble: Tofu scramble with sauteed mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and spinach sweet potato hash & toast. $7.89

Vegan Soyrizo Burrito: tofu scramble with Soyrizo, red & green peppers and avocado wrapped in a flour tortilla. Served with sweet potato hash. $7.89
Such great place don't miss it.

Spicy Southwest Tofu Scramble No Wimps Allowed

Tofu just the name alone is enough to turn most people away, and 13 months ago I was no different. Then I learned how to prepare and cook this amazing cube of goodness. Now when I know it's on the menu for the next dinner all night long it's on my mind I tell my buddies and they just laugh at me but it don't matter cause they just don't understand. When ever we go to a vegan restaurant I always try their scramble to see what I can add to mine to make it better.
So here we go for the scramble you will need

1/2 half onion diced

1/2 green pepper diced

1 chipotle pepper with adobe sauce diced

1 tbsp minced garlic

1 tsp oil

1 package extra firm organic tofu

1 tbsp turmeric

1 tsp cumin

1 can black beans rinsed and drained

1/4 tsp chipotle pepper powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 green onion diced (for optional topping)

Crumbled Tofu

Nutritional Yeast

Start by heating oil up the get the onions and peppers going, after they tender up then add the chipotle pepper with its sauce along with the garlic, salt, and pepper. Let me warn you this will make you nose twitch from the spice but man up and get through it. Press the liquid out of the tofu then crumble it in a bowl it don't have to be pretty so just smash it up. Now that you eyes are watering from the peppers then add the turmeric and cumin let go for 1 min then add tofu then mix till well blended then add the black beans,  nutritional yeast, and chipotle pepper powder  turn down the heat and let sit for 10 min or till everything else is ready

This Gimme Lean breakfast sausage is very easy to prepare I keep it frozen for easier slicing just please watch your fingers. Heat about 1 tbsp oil and brown on both sides at high heat and then turn down heat and keep warm to the biscuits are ready

The biscuit recipe I found here at the Jewish Vegan. I only changed the flour and the amount milk

2 cups unbleached-white whole wheat flour

3 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1/4 cup earth balance natural buttery spread

1 cup dairy free milk ( just leave a little room in the cup)

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

First preheat your oven to 400 degrees Take your milk and add the apple cider vinegar let sit, this makes vegan buttermilk. In a bowl add the flour, baking powder, salt and mix well. Then with a pastry cutter or a fork cut the butter in to the flour mixture until the butter is cut into small cubes. Next add the " buttermilk" a little at a time till a soft dough is formed. Turn out on to a floured counter, now get in there with your hands and knead keep folding the dough into its self  to make fluffier biscuits. Flatten down and cut into shape I use and old jelly jar its the perfect size. Time is a factor cause the heat from you hands starts to melt the butter in the dough so you want to get them in the oven ASAP to let the butter melt in the oven not on the counter. Bake for 10-13 min and presto homemade vegan buttermilk biscuits.

Then plate it up and chow down, remember cold biscuits are great for breakfast will nothing but some good jelly on them. Enjoy.
